Reasons for Detention

  • Juveniles apprehended during commission of a crime are detained pending investigation.
  • Juveniles who have violated their Court-Ordered terms of probation, detained as a sanction and to reinforce importance of Court order.
  • Juveniles on probation who have violated their Court-Ordered probation terms or committed new offense, three to ten days.
  • Juveniles on probation who have violated their Court-Ordered probation terms or committed a new offense and require a new treatment plan, 10 to 60 days. These juveniles are generally experiencing problems at home, school and in the community and require in-depth diagnosis and programming to deal with their problems.  Several of these juveniles require preparation for placement in Intensive Probation in their own home or for placement in foster homes or group homes.
  • Juveniles on probation who violated their probation terms or committed a new criminal offense and require placement in a residential facility over 30 days.

Day Rooms

Juveniles are housed in two different day rooms. Each day room is designed to house twelve juveniles in a single-person cell. The East Day Room houses females and South Day Room houses males. Younger males may also be housed in East Day Room.  A Universal Precaution Room is utilized as a maximum-security and/or special-management unit when needed.
