Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a Federal law that came into effect on August 20th, 2012. PREA establishes a zero-tolerance standard against sexual abuse in adult prisons, jails, police lockups, private prisons, as well as juvenile facilities and community confinement facilities.

Ingham County Youth Center has a zero-tolerance policy relating to sexual assault/rape of a youth detained at the Youth Center, and will cooperate in the investigation and prosecution of anyone involved in the sexual assault/rape. The primary responsibility of all Youth Center employees is our resident safety.

Ingham County Youth Center investigates each incident of alleged or reported sexual abuse or sexual assault/rape to the fullest extent possible in cooperation with the State of Michigan Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing and Child Protective Services.
